most of my sounds are guitars or synths played through guitars, just really
warped through fx, stretching, etc. sometimes i just mic my amps (mesa
boogie dc5, and a fender princeton chorus), or i'll plug straight into my
audio interface and run Amplitube which is a great amp simulator. another
fun thing that i use all the time for bass is running a midi guitar pickup a
roland gr-1, & then through softsynths, etc. there's tons of ways to go.
